The introductory lesson takes place on land and on the water. You will first learn the basic flying skills with the training kite. Once you have mastered these, your kite instructor will guide you through the structure and safety systems of the kite. We will then practise kiting on land before heading into the water.
We love the ocean, so our instructors will go into the water with you to practice what we call ‘body dragging’ with the kite. You will learn how to move away from the beach and towards the beach. You will also learn how to relaunch the kite if it falls into the water and our instructors will give you a feel for your kite control.
7-hour kite course for beginners.
1st lesson: 3h kite introduction
Your experience will include both land and water activities. Firstly, you will learn the basic flying skills with the trainer kite. Once you have mastered these basics, the instructor will guide you through setting up and understanding the kite's safety systems. You will then practise handling the large kite on land under the instructor's supervision before entering the water. Our instructors will accompany you into the water to practise what we call ‘body dragging’ with the kite. You will learn how to move away from the beach and towards the beach. You will also learn how to re-launch the kite if it falls into the water and our instructors will give you a feel for your kite control.
2nd lesson: 2h
During this lesson you will be in the water and continue with body dragging on your own. You will learn how to navigate both upwind and downwind. Next, you will practise re-launching your kite when it falls into the water and learn how to change direction while body dragging. With continued practice, you will understand the kite better, be able to control it independently and adjust its power and speed.
3rd lesson: 2h
In this lesson on the water, you will get to know the board. You will start with ‘body dragging’, holding the board in one hand and the kite in the other. The instructor will first demonstrate this technique on the beach. Once you have mastered this, you will be shown how to put the board on your feet and do a water start where you get on the board and start riding. Don't be disappointed if you only manage a few metres at first. You are kitesurfing!

4th lesson: 2h
A lesson on the water. You are now able to practise your water starts and hopefully ride a bit in each direction. With the IKO qualification you should be at independent kiter level, which means that in the right conditions you would be able to hire equipment and practice.
The most important thing you need to learn is how to ride upwind. This is also called running upwind. This means you spend less time running back up the beach!
